A friend lent me this Fox Skull a while back and I have finally got round to making a painting of it.  Although it looks quite simple in terms of colour I was really interested in trying to capture the subtle temprature changes from warm to cool.

Day 2! - I have always been amazed by some daily painters who managed to keep posting year after year.  I think two days in a row is good going for the moment! - Anyway, pleased with this one.  I really enjoy working with the light and shadows to create a dramatic effect.

I have decided to start another series of still life paintings.  I have been really busy with teaching over the last year or so and although I have had bursts of productivity I want to see if I can start being a bit more consistent. So I am going to try out the Daily Painting formula and see how it goes. This will mean putting a bit more time into the blog and website as well.

This is the first of the new series.  Testing out my new shadow box and lighting set up.  Unfortunately no studio at the moment so will have to make do with a corner of my room!

River Orwell - Water Colour

A4 Watercolour Paper

This is the 1st time I have used watercolors in years. I have switched to using tubes over the little pans and using a big brush with a broad technique. It was quite fun to paint and was quite pleased with result - will try and practice technique over the coming months.
